Hundreds turn out for car cruise to honor U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Jared Schmitz while local businesses show strong support

Friends of Wentzville fallen U.S. Marine Jared Schmitz and supporters of other service members gathered Septmber 4th in St. Charles County for a car cruise. Schmitz, 20, was among 13 service members killed in a terrorist attack in Kabul, late last month.

The military will be returning the remains of Lance Corporal Schmitz to Lambert Airport, Wednesday September 8th. The Patriot Guard Riders will escort his remains from there to the funeral home and onto Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for burial.

Wentzville U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Jared Schmitz will be among those remembered at Art Hill at Forest Park during the annual Flags of Valor event.

Many locals gathered to honor and celebrate the courage of this young Hero. One participant in the car cruise stated that he felt he should come out to show support because it was honoring not just the lives of the 13 soldiers; but also, his grandson, who had trained in the same platoon as U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Jared Schmitz.

We honor these lives and the lives of all American veterans who have served our great nation.
